The Zhaga Consortium has published Edition 1.2 of Zhaga Interface Specification Book 7, which can now be downloaded from the Zhaga website.

Book 7 defines the interfaces of LED light engines (LLEs) comprising one or more rectangular, non-socketable LED modules with a separate LED driver (electronic control gear).

There are now seven LLE categories in Book 7, compared with five categories in Edition 1.1. Each category is defined by the overall dimensions of the different LED modules, which come in a variety of linear, rectangular and square shapes.

The new categories are L56W2 (a linear module with a length of 560 mm and width of 20 mm) and L28W28 (a square module with an edge length of 280 mm).

Book 7 LLEs are intended primarily for indoor applications, such as office lighting.

The full set of Book 7 categories is listed below:

  • L6W6 (length 60 mm x width 60 mm)
  • L28W2
  • L28W4
  • L28W6
  • L28W28
  • L56W2
  • L56W4

Many companies exhibited Book 7 modules at the recent Light+Building tradeshow in Frankfurt, Germany, and there are already a significant number of certified Book 7 products in the online Certified Products Database.
