Zhaga publishes Book 6

Posted on Thursday February 13 2014, by Tim Whitaker

The Zhaga Consortium has published the latest interface specification for LED light engines. Zhaga Interface Specification Book 6 defines the interfaces of a socketable, circular LED light engine (LLE) with integrated control gear.

The full Book 6 specification (Edition 1.3, February 2014) can be downloaded from the Zhaga website.

Also, LED light engines from Toshiba have become the first products to be certified according to Book 6.

Zhaga is an international organization that is enabling the interchangeability of LED light sources made by different manufacturers.

The LLE defined by Book 6 has nominal dimensions of 90 mm diameter and 42 mm height, with a GH76p base.

The socketable Book 6 LLE fits into a holder, which has a diameter that does not exceed the diameter of the LLE itself. This enables compact luminaire designs. Book 6 LLEs are applicable for downlight, pendant-type, wall-mount and recessed-type luminaries.

Zhaga interface specifications are made public as soon as each specification is stable and the certification procedure is fully established.

Zhaga members can certify products according to Zhaga Book 6, using various Authorized Test Labs.

Products that are certified according to Book 6 are listed in the Certified Products database.
