Zhaga publishes latest edition of Book 3

Posted on Wednesday February 5 2014, by Tim Whitaker

The Zhaga Consortium has published a new version of Zhaga interface specification Book 3. This version, Edition 1.3, is available as a public download from the Zhaga website.

Compared with the previous version, Edition 1.3 incorporates minor error corrections and improvements in the text.

More importantly, the specifications and testing procedures described in Book 3 are now fully aligned with the general descriptions in Zhaga Book 1; this Book defines features that are common in multiple Zhaga interface specifications.

About Book 3

Book 3 defines the interfaces of a non-socketable LED light engine (LLE) that comprises one or more LED modules with separate electronic control gear. The LED module has a round disc shape with a maximum height of 7.2 mm and a typical diameter of 50 mm.

Book 3 specifies a circular light-emitting surface (LES) that can have a range of diameters, namely 9 mm, 13.5 mm, 19mm and 23 mm. Book 3 LLEs are suitable for spot-lighting and other applications that benefit from a small, circular source.
