Zhaga unveils database of certified products

Posted on Friday December 21 2012, by Tim Whitaker

A database containing the first group of products certified according to Zhaga specifications can now be viewed on the Zhaga website at www.zhagastandard.org/products/certified-products.html.

Certification entitles each of these products – which include LED luminaires, LED modules, holders, and LED light engines – to carry the Zhaga logo.

At present, there are 51 certified products on the Zhaga website, from a total of 8 Zhaga member companies.

New products will be added to the database on a regular basis once they have been tested according to the Zhaga certification procedures.

In order to be able to display the Zhaga logo, products must be tested by Zhaga-approved third-party testing laboratories (see www.zhagastandard.org/specifications/certification.html).

The product database on the website allows customers to find suitable products, but also can be used to confirm the appropriate use of the Zhaga logo.

The certified products currently available have been designed and tested according to either the Zhaga Book 2 or Book 3 interface specifications. The Book 3 specification can be viewed in the public area of the Zhaga website (www.zhagastandard.org/specifications/book-3.html), while the full Book 2 specification will be made available in January 2013.

Book 2 describes the specifications for a socketable LED light engine with a 65-mm-diameter base and integrated electronic control gear (ECG, commonly termed the driver).

Book 3 defines the interfaces between a non-socketable LED light engine with separate ECG that has a round light-emitting surface measuring between 9 mm and 23 mm in diameter.
