Zhaga talks futureproofing in Bregenz!

Posted on Tuesday October 10 2017, by Eve Gaut

LED International Professional Symposium and Expo, hosted in the picturesque city of Bregenz,
Austria, is now in its seventh year, and building momentum and gravitas every year. LpS is the
leading international lighting technologies event for design, testing and production of lighting systems,
controls and equipment, attracting over 1,600 delegates in September 2017 from over 50 different

Zhaga participated in this year’s show with an exhibition showcase, as well as a speech at the
Conference. Secretary General, Zhaga, Dee Denteneer, discussed ‘Zhaga Interface Specifications for
Connected Lighting and a Circular Economy’. As the lighting industry continues to grow at a fast pace,
interface standards are key to upgrading luminaires, and thus to future-proofing LED luminaires
against the uncertainties that come with the Internet of Things (IoT). Luminaires can only be upgraded
and serviced if the proper interface standards are in place, and therefore Zhaga is key for morecircular
business models.

Dee demonstrated how Zhaga has incorporated new industry challenges into its business motivation
and strategic direction, whilst maintaining the mission of specifying luminaire component interfaces.
Recent specifications were presented including the versatile receptacle for outdoor luminaires, the
socketable flat system, and the MD-SIG interfaces between LED modules and drivers.

The futureproofing ideology for the industry combined with the new and exciting Zhaga direction was
well received in Bregenz. Dee Denteneer, Secretary General, Zhaga, will next present at the Hong
Kong International Lighting Fair in October 2017.
