Zhaga publishes Book 11 Edition 1.1 and appoints test labs

Posted on Monday September 26 2016, by Tim Whitaker

Zhaga has published Edition 1.1 of Book 11, a specification for circular LED modules with a maximum diameter of 35 mm and a typical height of 3.5 mm. Book 11 modules are suitable for spot-lighting and other applications that benefit from a small, circular source.

The LED modules in Book 11 require a separate LED driver (electronic control gear). Book 11 references the MD-SIG specification for the electrical interface between the driver and module.

Compared with Edition 1.0, the major changes in Edition 1.1 are an updated reference to the MD-SIG information interface, and a new reference to the MD-SIG power interface. Another change is a requirement to add the LES diameter and center balance to the Product Data Set.

Test labs for Book 11

Also, three test labs have been authorized to carry out testing for compliance with Zhaga Book 11. The three test labs are:

  • DEKRA Certification B.V., Arnhem, The Netherlands
  • Intertek Testing Services NA, Arlington Heights, IL, USA
  • VDE Testing and Certification Institute, Offenbach, Germany

The Zhaga certification procedure requires that a product has been tested by an independent test lab, and is fully compliant with all the requirements of one of the Zhaga Books.

All Zhaga-certified products are listed in the Certified Products database. The listed products are the only ones entitled to carry the Zhaga logo.

Our Certification and Testing page carries full details of the test labs that are authorized to carry out testing for each Zhaga Book.
