Zhaga Book 12 on COB LED arrays

Posted on Tuesday May 5 2015, by Tim Whitaker

Zhaga Book 12, which defines a family of LED modules that are typically implemented using chip-on-board (COB) technology, will also include holders. However, it is likely that the holders will not be part of the first Approved edition of Book 12.

Book 12 defines a family of rectangular and square LED modules with a circular light-emitting surface (LES). These modules require a separate LED driver, and can be used either with or without holders, depending on the luminaire type and application.

The combination of a COB array and a holder with appropriate dimensions can create a module that is similar to the smaller LED spot modules defined in Zhaga Books 3 or 11.

Book 12 will define a family of COB LED arrays with the following PCB dimensions:

  • 12 x 15 mm
  • 16 x 19 mm
  • 19 x 19 mm
  • 20 x 24 mm
  • 24 x 24 mm
  • 28 x 28 mm
