Book 2

Zhaga Interface Specification Book 2 defines the interfaces of a socketable, circular LED light engine (LLE) with an integrated LED driver (electronic control gear).

The LLE has a round drum shape with maximum dimensions of 70.2 mm diameter and 45 mm height. It has a circular light-emitting surface with a typical diameter of 59 mm, and a PHJ65d type base.

Book 2 is similar to Book 8, except that the LLEs described in Book 2 have smaller dimensions.

Book 2 LLEs are intended primarily (but not exclusively) for use in LED luminaires for downlighting applications.

This Book must be read together with Zhaga Interface Specification Book 1.

Book 2 is similar to Book 8, except that the LLEs described in Book 8 have larger dimensions.

The photo (right) shows a Book 2 LLE situated in a holder, which is fixed into a downlight luminaire. The luminaire's removable reflector is at the top.

The LLE has a PHJ65d-type base with a diameter of 65 mm. It can be locked into a holder inside a luminaire by means of a twisting motion. Mechanical fit keying is present to ensure that the luminaire provides the correct mains voltage.

The light output is essentially lambertian, which enables the luminaire optics to shape the light distribution to the needs of the application.

The light engine is intended primarily (but not exclusively) for use in LED luminaires for downlighting applications.
